Survey report on major events in the Dalhousie area
In late 2025, the DCA Mobility Committee shared a survey asking area residents for opinions on special events management at LeBreton Flats.
The survey results have been summarized into the following report which will inform the DCA’s advocacy regarding event management on LeBreton Flats going forward.
Based on survey responses, the report recommends to agencies responsible for special event management on LeBreton Flats five “areas for action” together with specific implementation strategies proposed by residents.

Key Findings:
- Overall management of special events on LeBreton Flats is rated by most residents as “average,” and by many as “good” or “excellent.” Twenty-two per cent of respondents felt that management had improved in 2025. However, a significant minority of respondents felt they were not well informed.
- Information about special events on LeBreton Flats is lacking and what information is available is fragmented. When respondents felt they were informed about special events, they were more satisfied with the management of these special events
- Primary issues may be categorized either as related to mobility, or to public safety, including public health issues such as sanitation and waste collection.
- A major event centre entertainment district, and thousands more residents are coming to LeBreton Flats. The need for a special event management strategy that includes local residents, is urgent.
- A significant number of respondents see a role for the DCA in special events management on LeBreton Flats, largely as an advocate for the community.
